Feminist and rights-based programs for lasting social transformation
Unnayan Bhabna designs and implements programs that promote women's empowerment and social justice through a feminist and rights-based approach. Our thematic areas reflect long experience in advancing equality, resilience, and inclusive development in Bangladesh.
Unnayan Bhabna supports women to take leadership roles in community institutions and local government. We build leadership skills, promote inclusive governance, and help women influence planning and policy processes.
The organization ensures that women's voices guide decisions in public institutions, cooperatives, and social movements. Through long-term projects such as the ADB-funded TA-7720 BAN, we have trained women leaders and supported Union Parishad representatives to promote gender accountability in rural infrastructure planning.
The organization empowers women to achieve financial independence through income generation, entrepreneurship, and vocational training. We support women-led businesses in agro-processing, crafts, and small enterprises.
By improving market linkages, access to finance, and digital skills, Unnayan Bhabna helps women turn local resources into sustainable livelihoods. Through the World Bankβsupported BRCP-1 project, we supported hundreds of women entrepreneurs across 21 districts.
Unnayan Bhabna works in coastal and disaster-prone areas to strengthen women's role in climate adaptation and mitigation. We train women in climate-smart agriculture, disaster preparedness, and natural resource management.
Through programs like REE-CALL (Oxfam GB) and RECLAIM (Christian Aid Bangladesh) in Satkhira, thousands of women have adopted adaptive farming, aquaculture, and micro-enterprises β turning vulnerability into strength.
The organization promotes awareness and access to SRHR services for women, adolescents, and families. We conduct education and advocacy on menstrual health, family planning, and gender-based violence prevention.
Through Nirapod-2 (Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands), we empowered women and adolescent girls to claim their sexual and reproductive health and rights in both rural and industrial areas.
Unnayan Bhabna works to ensure that every child grows up in a safe and nurturing environment. We engage parents, community leaders, and youth to prevent early marriage, exploitation, and abuse. The organization promotes education, psychosocial care, and inclusive learning opportunities for children, especially girls from vulnerable families.
Recognizing the power of technology, Unnayan Bhabna promotes digital literacy and leadership among young women and men. Through ICT and life skills training β including under the Learning and Earning Development Project with the ICT Division, GoB β we help youth access digital employment, online safety knowledge, and civic engagement opportunities.
During disasters and crises, Unnayan Bhabna acts quickly to support affected communities, especially women and girls. We distribute essential items, conduct awareness sessions on hygiene and safety, and promote protection-centered relief. Through the UNFPA Dignity Kit Project, we supported flood-affected women and girls in Satkhira with menstrual hygiene and reproductive health awareness.
Unnayan Bhabna promotes the dignity, rights, and inclusion of LGBT+ individuals by challenging discrimination, raising awareness, and supporting safe, inclusive spaces. This work is part of our broader commitment to equality and human rights for all, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.
